Suntrips Travel - Suntrips runs a less than honest operation

I recently booked a Suntrips flight and hotel package to Hawaii. Received Suntrips confirmation which clearly indicates payment and confirmation for 3 people (one room). No problems with the flights but big problem with their booking of the hotel.

Upon arrival at the hotel, we were told that extra payments must be made for the third person. I tried calling Suntrips'customer service number given on the confirmation. The person on the other end insisted that it is a problem with the hotel, not with the booking. I spoke with the hotel management and they tried calling the same number. They received nothing but runarounds just as I did. Later I found out that Suntrips is basically a broker. Their bookings are done by Travelocity which hired a third party to do the actual booking. This third party, by the way, is in India and they usually only book for 2 people in a room. In my case I paid for 3 people and received Suntrips' confirmation as such but it means nothing to them. Confusing enough? The India office refused to give me Suntrips' US contact and instead, told me to read the fine prints and gave me its "public relation" e-mail address to make my complaint, then hung up on me.

Fortunately the hotel (Outrigger Waikiki)decided to absorb the cost and told me that they will deal with Suntrips separately somehow.

Suntrips Travel - Don't use Suntrips because you can't talk to them if you have problems

I too had a similar experience with Suntrips.I just got back from a Suntrips vacation.

Our departing flight was changed to depart an hour earlier than originally scheduled. Suntrips didn't think this was the kind of information we needed to know and did not forward the email our airline had sent Suntrip notifying them of the change. Suntrips did a lot of finger pointing - first it was the airlines fault, then our fault etc. There was NO customer service.

From that moment we missed the flight we were on our own to figure it out.

Don't bother contacting a "manager." They put you on hold for an hour only to "accidently" hang up on you.If you are persistant you will get a manager who will do nothing to help you.

Yup.Sounds about like what we got...

Super late flight further delayed by an atrocious check in process...

Bait and switched to a ratty hotel no where near the beach when we paid for beach front.

"All inclusive" meant that our hotel scrambled to make 3 nasty homemade bologna sandwiches but had no beverages.

Horrible experience that cost us a full day of our planned "vacation".No good...
